Intergenerational Filmmaking Workshops

We provide an intergenerational filmmaking workshop where young filmmakers interview local seniors while also teaching interested youth and seniors the process of filmmaking.

The goal is to capture seniors’ stories and promote inter-generational community interactions.

“Halmeoni” is a short doc film where our Lab Fellows and our staff are helping tell the story of a Queens woman who escaped North Korea in her youth.

For more information please contact us about bringing similar programs to your NORC, community center, or senior center.

Astoria Film Festival worked with HS of Art & Design’s Animation Department to interview seniors at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House and then work with them to create animated short films based on the stories they shared, which were featured at the center and at our 2025 Youth Festival. Seniors and Students participated in festival panels and red carpet interviews.
